Adeyemi has never heard the fourth round. Marchetti has never needed to hurry. Somebody’s pattern breaks at the first exchange.

03The Pit

Turbine Hall D

A decommissioned generator floor under the docklands — poured in 1961 to hold four hundred tonnes of spinning steel, which makes it roughly the only floor in the city rated for what happens on it now. Twelve hundred standing. One gantry. No seats worth keeping.

The hall runs its own light: four floodlights over the square, everything else dark. What the floods don’t touch isn’t part of the night.

House rules

  • R1Five rounds, three minutes each. No extra round. A draw stands as a draw and nobody goes home happy.
  • R2Hands taped to the wrist, bare past it. Tape is inspected at the door of the square, not before.
  • R3Clinch yes, elbows no. Throws end at the floor — nothing follows a fighter down.
  • R4Ten count on any knockdown. The count is the referee’s and the referee counts slow.
  • R5The doctor’s word ends any bout, any round, any argument.

04Tickets

Phones sealed at the door and returned at the exit. Cash bar. 18+, ID with the ticket, no exceptions the doorman hasn’t already heard.

05The Promotion

FRACTURE stages five-bout cards in rooms built to hold machines, not crowds — substations, foundries, turbine halls. No broadcast, no ranking body, no season. A card is announced; a room is not. The address goes out by message a day before the first bell, and the room goes back to being empty by morning.

Eight cards, eight rooms, one strap. The ledger below is the promotion’s entire public record.
