The drafting room
Draw the cloth before we weave it.
This is the tool the mill plans a cloth on, with the yarn we actually stock. Press a cell and the cloth underneath changes. When it is right, send it: we sett it for our lambswool, weave thirty centimetres, post the sample and quote for the length.
Threading
One column per warp end, one row per shaft. The filled square says which shaft carries that end. Every end is on exactly one shaft.
Tie-up
One column per treadle. The filled squares are the shafts that treadle lifts when it is pressed.
Treadling
One row per pick, top to bottom. The filled square is the treadle pressed for that pick; press two for a combined lift.
The cloth
Where a lifted shaft carries an end, you see warp. Everywhere else, weft. The colour strips along the edges are the yarn order.
