Wear it like a material, not a cloud.

ORRIS is built around iris butter. A little goes further than bright florals. Start light, then decide if you want more trail.

On skin.

Spray once on each pulse — wrist or collarbone — from about a hand’s length away. Do not rub. Rubbing breaks the top and flattens the iris.

  • Clean, unscented skinMoisturiser without fragrance helps the base cling without changing the formula.
  • One spray to startIris-heavy blends read louder after twenty minutes than in the first minute.
  • Fabric optionalA light mist on a scarf lasts longer; avoid silk you care about staining.

In the room.

Heart notes lift off body heat into the space around you. Orris butter softens the air; florals stay powder-dry rather than sweet.

  • 0–20 minutesTop notes: citrus rind, pink spice, or neroli. This is the doorway, not the house.
  • 20 minutes–3 hoursHeart: orris, rose, magnolia, jasmine. This is what people notice when they lean in.
  • Warm roomsHeat pushes heart notes faster. In air-con, the powder holds longer.

What stays.

Base notes settle into fabric and late evening — vetiver, cedar, ambroxan, labdanum. The trail is quiet, specific, and hard to name until you smell it again.

  • 4–12 hoursWood and resin keep the iris from vanishing. Ambroxan sits closest to skin.
  • Reapply sparinglyIf you need more, one spray at the nape is enough — not another full wrist.
  • StorageKeep bottles upright, cool, and out of sun. Heat cooks citrus tops.

Practical notes from the lab.

Small habits that keep an iris formula readable from morning to night.

Office

One spray. Iris Stone or Yuzu Veil. Skip jasmine-heavy blends if you share a small room.

Evening

Two sprays max. Violet Ash or Resin Letter. Labdanum will carry you past dinner without shouting.

Humidity

In humid air, florals bloom faster. Prefer Root Mirror or Iris Stone if you want powder to stay powder.

Layering

Do not stack two ORRIS bottles. If you layer, use an unscented oil underneath — not another perfume.
