Grid fleece
Knitted as a waffle rather than a flat pile, so the fibre sits in raised islands with open channels between them. The islands trap warm air against the skin; the channels give sweat somewhere to go that is not your sleeve. It is an old idea done properly, which is most of what we buy.
We tested nine grid fleeces by washing each one forty times and measuring the recovery between cycles. Seven were slack by the twenty-fifth. This one was not.
